DSC_1879All Hallows Eve will soon be upon  us.  If the thought of all those Halloween treats makes you a little scared, be sure to have healthy snacks ready to go.  Set them out as you prepare for your spooky night.  With healthy snacks in sight, all the goblins and ghouls are sure to fill up on nutritious food before they indulge in the treats.  You don’t need to prepare any monstrous recipes.  Keep it simple!

Apple Slices

Cut an apple into slices.  Use fall or Halloween themed cookie cutters to cut out the the seeds in the center of the apple.DSC_1863Cheese and Crackers

Top whole wheat crackers with a slice of cheese.  Use fall or Halloween themed cookie cutters for festive and fun shapes.  I used some cupcake sprinkles to make jack-o-lantern faces.DSC_1885PB&J

Who doesn’t love a PB&J?  Use whole wheat bread and a fruit spread with limited sugar.  Use fall or Halloween themed cookie cutters to add a festive touch.DSC_1887Spooky Teeth

Use apple, peanut butter, and marshmallows to make this spooky snack.  Core and cut an apple into slices.  Spread peanut butter on an apple slice.  Place marshmallows on top of the peanut butter.  Spread peanut butter on another apple slice and place it on top of the marshmallows.  DSC_1967Candy Corn Fruit Cup

Pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, and a dollop of whipped cream make a healthy candy corn look-a-like with just enough sweetness.DSC_1938

If you need more than snacks to keep your stomach full on Halloween night, come back tomorrow to see how to make Cabbage Patch Stew.  Keep it brewing on the stove or warming in the crock pot and send those trick-or-treaters off with a full belly of nutritious goodness!
