Snack With Success // Homemade Granola Bars

Did you know that snacks are an important part of a healthy diet? Use snacks to supplement or catch up on the food groups you missed throughout the day. Eating too few fruits? Add an orange between breakfast and lunch. Is there a void on vegetables? Try carrots as an afternoon pick me up. Dry on dairy? A string cheese is sure to please. Guilty of missing grains? Grab a handful of whole grain crackers. Passing on protein? A handful of almonds will do the trick. Check out the tips to hack your snack below.

If you are feeling extra adventurous, try making your own granola bars. When I made them, my husband said, “That bird seed stuff is really good!”. Maybe your family will love them, too. The great thing is you can add what you like and leave out what you don’t. Don’t have pumpkin seeds? Just add extra sunflower seeds. Don’t like raisins? Add a few extra nuts. Enjoy!
