May is National Salsa Month! With ingredients from onions, jalapeños, and tomatillos, to jicama, pineapple, and mango, you are bound to find a flavor you enjoy. In America, salsa is traditionally thought of as a dip for tortilla chips or as a side to burritos and tacos, but salsa can be paired with so much more! Keep salsa as a staple in your fridge to spice up any meal. Plain rice can be perked up with a scoop, an omelet can become more flavorful with a spoonful, and grilled chicken can go from dull to colorful with just a sprinkle.
Here are some of my favorite recipes using salsa:
Mexican Chicken and Black Bean Soup
Shredded Chicken with Salsa or Salsa Verde
Whether you like blended salsa, chunky salsa, or salsa of the green variety, you can easily make your own right from home. Follow one of the recipes below.
If spicy salsa isn’t your thing, try these recipes:
Strawberry, Blueberry, & Jicama Salsa
You may be surprised by the combinations, but your taste buds will thank you. Enjoy!
