Did you know, when families eat together, they eat better? September is National Family Meals Month. Raise Your Mitt To Commit!

Creating family mealtime is not always easy. Busy schedules, homework, and many other obstacles can stand in your way. If you feel overwhelmed at the idea of regular family mealtime, keep in mind that it isn’t really about the meal at all. Of course a nutritious, well-rounded meal is best, but it id more important that you take the time to sit down and engage with your family.

Commit to just one or two nights a week and watch the benefits it brings.

Research also shows that families who eat together, eat healthier. There is an increase in the consumption of fruits, vegetables, fiber, calcium-rich foods, and vitamins with regular family meal time.

If you need a quick and easy recipe this week, try Slow Cooker Chicken Drumsticks.

This is one of my favorite recipes when I have a busy day. I let the slow cooker do the work, and reduce my time spent in the kitchen. At meal time I like to serve it with a batch of warm rice, and fruit and veggies on the side.

Enjoy!
