We all know that eating plenty of vegetables is an important part of a healthy diet. Do you get bored of eating veggies the same way over and over? With four simple steps you can create amazing veggies, with different flavors and textures.
Choose a veggie or two, decide how you want to cook it, add in flavors and extras – that’s it! Four steps to amazing veggies. You can change the taste of basic ingredients in your dish by simply changing the herbs and spices you use. For instance, use these herbs and spices to get these flavors:
- Mexican – use cumin, oregano, chili. powder, cilantro, and garlic.
- Italian – use basil, oregano, parsley, and garlic
- Asian – use soy sauce, ginger, garlic, chilies, and turmeric
- Savory/Thanksgiving – use rosemary, sage, thyme, and parsley
This week I had package of heirloom cherry tomatoes in the fridge, and wanted to try a new way to use them. I whipped up a tomato sandwich with a delicious cucumber spread.
If you don’t have French bread on hand, regular bread will work great. You could also use whole wheat crackers as your base. Another great way to use this recipe is to use the cucumber spread as a dip for carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and bell pepper strips.
