Nutritious and Delicious – All In One Pan // Skillet Penne with Veggies

There’s no need for multiple pots, casserole dishes, or mixing bowls when creating a skillet meal. In 7 easy steps you can create a nutritious and delicious meal all in one pan. Check out the seven steps below to create a skillet meal.  

Start by choosing a protein. Add in a starch, something for flavor, and plenty of veggies. You’ll need a little liquid to help everything cook. Finish the recipe off with sauce and toppings.

This week I decided to try Skillet Penne with Veggies.

Did you notice that this is a meatless recipe? What about the protein? Cannellini beans can be considered a protein or a veggie. In this recipe, they act as the protein source. You could also try adding in some grilled or shredded chicken. Whole wheat penne pasta is the starch from step two. A little bit of basil flavors this recipe nicely. If you aren’t a fan of basil, use Italian seasoning or oregano instead. Adding veggies to a skillet meal will help you reach your servings for the day. This recipe calls for both zucchini and tomatoes. You could also try yellow summer squash, green beans, or asparagus. Use chicken broth and water as the liquid to help your meal cook. Cooking pasta with chicken broth makes it pretty flavorful. You don’t need to add any additional sauce. Parmesan cheese tops off the meal and brings it all together. What do you think?
