Are you familiar with Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)? For over 25 years, CSA has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Here’s how it works:
- A farmer offers shares to the public.
- Consumers purchases a share – like a “membership” or “subscription”.
- Consumers receive a box, bag, or basket of seasonal produce each week during farming season.
A CSA program helps farmers prepare for busy season, and build connections with local consumers. In turn, consumers get delicious, ripe, healthy produce and learn to use fresh produce in new ways. Many locations accept accept SNAP/EBT and DUFB benefits. Learn more by visiting localharvest.org. Enjoy!
