Did you know that plums are a member of the rose family? It’s true! It is also a close relative of peaches, apricots, and cherries. Many different varieties are grown in Utah. They range from small to large, and may be yellow, blue, red, purple, or green. Plums ripen late in the summer or early in the fall, which makes now the perfect time to pick some up at the grocery store or local farmer’s market. Eat them fresh, puree them for a sauce, add to a smoothie, or use them to top a salad. Check out the Top Ten Ways to Enjoy Plums from fruitsandveggies.org.
